Tennessee construction contracts rise 51% in September

The value of construction contracts awarded in Tennessee was up 51 percent in September compared to a year ago, according to data released today by McGraw-Hill Construction.

Nearly $784.4 million in contracts were awarded last month, compared to $520.9 million in September 2010, according to the data.

The biggest jump was in non-residential construction (for commercial, educational, manufacturing buildings, etc.), which climbed 46 percent to nearly $335 million, up from $230.1 million last year…
