Ramesses statue’s new home to be on Central Avenue
The 25-foot Ramesses the Great statue that has stood guard in front of the Pyramid for decades should find a new home soon.
The Commercial Appeal reports a Memphis City Council committee voted to move the statue to the University of Memphis campus. It would be visible from Central Avenue, sitting just across from the university’s main student parking lot and in a pedestrian walkway by the music school.
The full council still must approve the move.
