Overton Park conservancy submits plan to Wharton
A private group seeking to set up a conservancy to oversee Overton Park has submitted a management plan to Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr.
The group, which would operate similar to the organization overseeing Shelby Farms Park, is led by George Cates and Gary Shorb, Memphis Daily News reports. Both businessmen on Tuesday briefed the Memphis City Council on their plans for Overton Park, saying more than $4 in private money would be spent for every dollar in public money.
